Hello September!

The days may still feel a little like summer here in Texas, but there’s something about September that makes us start looking forward to a change of season. The kids are back in school, Friday night football is in full swing, and we’re slowly trading long summer days for cooler evenings and a little more routine.

Grab your favorite cup of coffee and settle in for this month’s Porch Talk. We’ve rounded up a few things happening around town, a little real estate news, some helpful home tips, and a few things I think you’ll enjoy. Thanks for stopping by!

Around Town...

There’s always something happening around here! From community gatherings and local events to football and fall activities, September is a great month to get out and enjoy what our area has to offer. Here are a few things happening around town that you won’t want to miss!

The Pettit Family

We recently took a week off and headed to Colorado with family—and while I’m pretty sure “a week off” and “real estate” don’t always go hand in hand, we gave it our best shot!

We enjoyed cooler temperatures, fly fishing, kayaking down the river, beautiful scenery and, most importantly, some good old-fashioned family time. There’s just something about stepping away that gives you time to slow down, laugh and reconnect with the people who matter most.

I’m especially grateful to our clients for trusting us with their real estate needs and allowing us the opportunity to step away, recharge and enjoy a little family time.
Your trust means more than you know.

Fall Home Checklist

As we head into fall, it’s a great time to give your home a little attention before the cooler weather arrives. A few simple checks now can help prevent bigger—and more expensive—problems later.

Here’s a quick checklist to get your home ready for the season:

  • HVAC & Filters — Change filters and consider scheduling a routine checkup to make sure your system is ready for cooler temperatures.
  • Safety First — Test smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and replace batteries if needed.
  • Gutters & Roof — Clean gutters and downspouts, and check the roof for damaged shingles, flashing issues or signs of leaks.
  • Doors, Windows & Caulking — Check for gaps, worn weatherstripping and areas around windows and doors that may need resealing.
  • Outdoor Check — Inspect outdoor faucets, trim dead or overhanging branches, and take care of any exterior maintenance before cooler weather arrives.

A little time spent on your home now can go a long way toward keeping it comfortable, efficient and protected all season long.
