Hello October!

Fall has finally arrived! After all the recent rain, it will be nice to enjoy some cooler mornings and crisp fall days. October brings changing leaves, cozy evenings and, of course, all things pumpkin!

It’s a beautiful time of year to slow down, enjoy the outdoors and take in all that our community has to offer.

Around Town...

October is full of reasons to get out and enjoy our community! From fall festivals and local gatherings to football and seasonal activities, there’s plenty happening around the area this month. Here are a few events to add to your calendar and enjoy with family and friends!

Randy Pettit - Friday Night Lights

If you’ve ever been to a Van Alstyne High School football game, you may not realize that one of our own is working behind the scenes in the Press Box!

When Randy isn’t helping real estate clients, you’ll find him high above the action at every Van Alstyne home game, keeping track of the stats and passing the information along to the announcer.

Randy has been part of the Van Alstyne Friday Night Lights tradition for 11 years, and it’s one of the many ways he stays connected to the community he loves.

What to Notice When Touring a Home

Fall can be a great time to tour properties because cooler weather and changing seasons can reveal things you might not notice during the warmer months. As you walk through a property, take a little extra time to look beyond the finishes and think about how the home and property will work for you throughout the year.

Natural Light — How much light does the home get as the days get shorter?
Windows & Doors — Do they feel drafty or show signs of wear?
Yard & Drainage — How does the property handle rain? Are there areas where water collects?
Heating & HVAC — Is the home comfortable and does the HVAC system appear well maintained?
Outdoor Space — Can you picture yourself enjoying the yard or patio during cooler months?
Neighborhood — What does the area feel like in the evenings and on weekends?
Storage — Is there enough room for seasonal clothing, décor, equipment and everything else that comes with the changing seasons?

Sometimes the little things you notice during a fall showing can tell you a lot about a property.

Pumpin Recipe? You Bet!

Easy Pumpkin Spice Muffins

Ingredients

1 box spice cake mix

1 can (15 oz.) pumpkin purée

1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice (optional)

½ cup chocolate chips (optional)

Directions: Preheat oven to 350 F. Mix everything together until well combined. Fold in chocolate chips if using. Divide batter evenly into a lined muffin tin. Bake for 18-22 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool and enjoy!
